At Shine a Light, we offer a unique range of services tailored specifically to the needs of the families we support, and we are always looking to do more. If you would like to help, there are a number of ways you can get involved.
Donate
When you choose to donate to Shine a Light, you will always be sure of the impact your gift is making.
From giving a family in crisis the support they need to get through the next few weeks, to providing a space where a child living with cancer can feel like just a child, if even for just a few hours.
We promise to keep you updated on the difference your donation is making in the lives of children and young people living with cancer.
Always vital, and always transparent, we will only contact you to share the impact of your donations, and keep you informed of the progress you’ve helped us achieve – giving you regular opportunities to update how we communicate with you.
We welcome regular and one-off donations from individuals or organisations. Anything you can afford to give can make a world of difference to a young person living with cancer. Every penny you donate will go directly towards the work that we do to support them.
Corporate giving
So many of our services are provided by the selfless efforts of our volunteers. But we also rely on the countless businesses and organisations that donate time, resources and their profits to help us deliver on our mission.
From providing premises and services, volunteering their time, or donating a portion of their profits – there are so many ways you can help children and young people living with cancer.

Fundraise
Proceeds from Auctions
and Raffles
If you are holding an auction or raffle and you are looking for a good charitable cause then look no further! We are happy to work with you to provide support in regular or at one-off fundraising events. This is a great way to increase revenue for us and heighten awareness of our charity. Donating Raffle Prizes
We are always looking for raffle prizes and the offer of services as prizes too so if you have some ideas or some items that you think would make great prizes, or can provide us with a voucher etc we would love to hear from you
Individual Fundraising
From door-to-door and email fundraising to face-to-face conversations and charitable collections, individual fundraising plays a vital role in supporting families affected by cancer. Every conversation, every donation, and every effort helps Shine a Light continue its work, and we encourage and celebrate all forms of personal fundraising — no matter how big or small.
Event Fundraising
Organising events as a means of fundraising can be a great way to involve an array of different people and the community as a whole and benefit the families that Shine a Light support. If you would like to help us by running an event that will raise funds for our work and raise awareness too we would be glad to offer you support.
Fundraising enables us to keep going. If you’re looking for a good cause to support, we’d be honoured if you’d consider us. We’ll back you however we can, and of course we’ll use our community to publicise your efforts or event. Fun run, coffee morning, sponsored head shave…
Volunteer
Shine a Light is powered by the selfless efforts of our volunteers. From keeping our Family Centre running 5 days a week, to helping us deliver our outreach activities. Launching new projects, delivering community and fundraising events, volunteers put their skills to work to keep things running smoothly and ensure we can deliver our vital work.
We have a range of volunteering opportunities, from a few hours a week, to delivering a single event or on an ad hoc basis. You can explore all the roles we have available in our volunteering pack.
Volunteer with your colleagues, friends, and family or on your own to meet new people. We will make sure that any time you can dedicate to Shine a Light will have a real and lasting impact that you can be proud of.
